WDK by Tether Integrates LI.FI to Bring Swap and Cross-Chain Functionality to Developers

Introduction

Tether created its Wallet Development Kit (WDK) to simplify how developers build self-custodial wallets and applications, and is now integrating LI.FI in the toolkit to make swap and cross-chain functionality easier to add.
Bringing LI.FI to Tether WDK
WDK gives developers modular, open-source building blocks for creating self-custodial wallets and applications across multiple blockchain ecosystems. Users retain control of their assets, while teams can bring wallet functionality to consumer apps, payment services, enterprise products, connected devices, and AI agents.
Its modular architecture allows developers to choose the networks, providers, and features that fit their needs. Wallet and protocol modules can add functionality such as swaps, bridges, lending, and fiat access without relying on closed wallet infrastructure.
As part of the collaboration, LI.FI has been integrated into WDK through its Swidge framework—the common interface WDK uses for swaps, bridges, and experiences that combine both.
With LI.FI now available through WDK, developers can connect WDK-based wallets and applications to LI.FI's universal liquidity layer. Instead of building and maintaining separate connections for each onchain venue, teams can access swap and cross-chain functionality through one reusable module.
Bringing LI.FI into WDK preserves the principles behind the toolkit. WDK continues to provide the open, self-custodial wallet foundation, while LI.FI handles the complexity involved in finding and executing available onchain routes. Developers remain free to choose the modules and providers that make sense for their products.

A team builds a self-custodial wallet or wallet-enabled application with WDK.
The team adds LI.FI through WDK to offer swap and cross-chain functionality.
Users access those features inside the resulting wallet experience, while LI.FI manages the underlying routing complexity.
